You know, it's funny. We went to war never looking to come back, but it's the real world I couldn't survive.

Finally got around to watching last week's episode. I liked it quite a bit. Not sure how I feel about Skye joining SHIELD for a "true and noble purpose" but at least we understand now why she was so willing to sign on and get with the program.

Not sure why they felt the need to blow Chan up instead of just shooting him. I mean, even if Coulson only brought the knock-out gun and May doesn't carry a gun for inexplicable reasons, they seemed to have beat up plenty of armed guards.

I did like Coulson's "They gave him a name." and immediately reaching for his gun.

Oh, I totally forgot that we didn't watch last week's episode b/c we were out. I wonder if that will be a problem for watching tomorrow's episode. So, I gather from what Kalshane posted that Skye officially joined SHIELD? Anything else significant happen?

Phil got his badass on with a hacker who was all "It's different when *I* sell information for money, I'm still as noble as I ever was." Definitely a "I'll taser you and watch Supernanny as you drool" moment.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Steph, it's up on Hulu if you have time first.

This past episode spawned a faint hope in me that Skye being annoying was not the actress acting badly, but the character. I know. But maybe?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

It's a re-run of the pilot episode tomorrow, btw.

Makes sense. First arc, What is Skye up to?, is done, time for a recap of sorts. Then proably on to, Can she redeem herself/Further suspicions of Coulson/Who are those baddies?

Didn't Chan incinerate all the bullets they shot at him?

I thought his motivation was tissue thin. All that talk about being meant for bigger things and meanies suppressing the use of his gift, but he never seemed to spare a single thought for anything useful he might be able to do with it. Apparently the masses were supposed to just fall down in worship because he could light his hands up as if he were a Bic. At least in the pilot Mike seemed to have some inclination to actually use his powers to save people from danger.

True. Though those were the goofy knock-out bullets. Though I guess lead wouldn't do much better.

And yeah, he turned Super-villain awfully quick. On the other hand, wasn't the Extremis formula having a similar effect on Mike, too? I'm willing to chalk it up to him getting shot up with the formula. I agree he didn't really think through the actual usefulness of being a human flame-thrower.

Steph,

I was referring to Skye agreeing to work with them and then deciding she wanted to become an actual field agent (hence her training with Ward). No official joinage yet.

Ah. Maybe I should watch it. It doesn't sound like much happened, arc-wise, though. The previews made it look like Skye was all Traitor! Busted! Coulson Disappointed! Was that a fake-out? That was pretty much the only thing I was interested in from the preview.
