Indeed, everything I saw made it clear it was the studio that didn't get Wonder Woman, not him.
I didn't get that sense. He got WW because of Buffy = girlpower etc. He wasn't that up on the WW mythos, or history or recent storylines or anything.
I don't doubt that he could've done a credible job with her. But she has been tricky to write for some writers and there isn't quite the rich history of fantastic storylines that you get with Batman or Superman.

Do you have anything to back that up, that would also suggest he's deep in Avengers lore? I just don't see it.
There was the time, in The Gift, when Xander said "Assemble the Avengers," and...
Yeah. I got nothing.
The problem for Joss with Wonder Woman is that she doesn’t have really have any character flaws. She really can’t—she’s supposed to be an icon.
Marvel Universe characters are just generally more nuanced, which is where Joss is more comfortable working.
I'm not a huge Captain America fan myself, but what are his flaws? I kinda get the roundness of the rest of the Avengers, but he's even more poster boy than Supes.
Wonder Woman's flaws would really be her culture shock. Which, I guess, would be Cap to a lesser degree.

Powers administered via needle? Also the whole Red Scare Cap of the Fifties.
Maybe he's annoying when lecturing everyone that they should be drinking milk instead of whiskey and need to sit up straighter?

I'm not getting what you mean for those as flaws.
I'm very curious what they do to give him depth. Which is one reason I'm glad they've gone with such a charismatic actor, because there's not much in the short version of the character's history that sucks me in. For me, the
Captain America
movie is a step on the way to
The Avengers
which is getting Iron Man onto a team, for RDJ lulz.
How does his origin story make him a junkie? You might as well say that Wonder Woman has the personality flaw of being made of clay.
And I don't really think he's played out all that fascist either, but all I know of his political leaning is which way he went in Civil War. I'm just not seeing what you're seeing.
