A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Ah, it was Smokin' Aces I was thinking of.
Breaking the Waves is Bleaky McBleakerpants. Also the film 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days [link] It was brilliant and I am glad I saw it, but it explores violence against women, repressive regimes, personal isolation in a completely believable and heartbreaking way. Hard to watch and powerfully inspiring all at once.
I thought of a bleak movie and another movie-I-hate movie! The Glass of House and Sand.
Fuck what a horrid movie.
The House of Sand and Fog?
looks at post
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!
I blame the Advil Sinus. I'm very high.
But it was FABULOUSLY WONDERFULLY PERFECT IN ITS BLEAKNESS. And NOT ENTIRELY WITHOUT MOMENTS OF LIGHT.
Yeah, I loved Dark Knight.
The bleakest movie I ever saw was Blindness and that *was* too much.
Whoo, yeah. In no rush to see that again, ever.
It occurs to me that Pan's Labarynth was pretty bleak, and yet I loved it. Have I watched our copy of it since we bought it? Noooo, but I'm sure I will someday.

Yay drugs!
The Glass of House and Sand
I am trying not to cry laughing at my desk. I would love a synopsis of this movie.
