Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Mmph. While You Were Sleeping. Very much so.

I do hate Pretty Woman, though. I just don't see the rom in it.

Mentioning Enchanted reminded me of a rom-com I liked, but it's a TV movie. Lucky 7. I suspect I need to file that under "guilty pleasure" though.

Sorry, I'm a total sap for most romantics comedies. There's no earthly reason anyone should like Green Card or Year of the Comet, but there you go.

Note: I would put most screwball comedies over any of the recent films. Except, of course, Bringing Up Baby.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Although she was too old for the role by the time they made the movie. Much like the cast of Rent.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Although she was too old for the role by the time they made the movie.

Katharine Hepburn? Well, there wouldn't have been a movie without her (the role was specifically written for her, IIRC.) She handpicked Grant and Stewart, I believe. A woman of impeccable tastes.

I do hate Pretty Woman, though. I just don't see the rom in it.

In a film magazine somewhere many years ago, I read an article about how Sleeping with the Enemy can be considered an unofficial sequel to Pretty Woman. I thought that was brilliant.

Our wings are not tired.

My loathing of "Pretty Woman" knows no bounds.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

"Object of My Affection"...I think it's sort of a romcom and sort of a dramedy.

I'd say it's a Hopeless Romantic Comedy. I mean, they did tack on a happy ending for the lead character with Striking Extra #3, but 95% of the movie was about her forming a doomed imaginary romantic relationship with her gay roommate and then flipping out when reality intruded.

Julia Roberts pretty much guarantees I will avoid anything.

Weirdly, she and Hector Elizondo were pretty much the only redeeming features of Valentine's Day.
