I love action movies anymore. I've drifted so far from rom-coms. If I'm putting on something for background noise it's much more likely to be something like
The Italian Job
or
The Rock,
or even horror, like
Resident Evil
or the remake of
Dawn of the Dead.
(Which I typed first as Dawn of the DEAN. My Winchester love is getting a little ridiculous.)
I can't even watch rom-coms anymore, especially not new ones.
I love rom-coms as a genre, yet I cannot remember the last good one I saw.
Of course, there are rom-coms that are not very good but I love them anyway because I am a Sucker (prime example: Two Weeks' Notice.)
I've drifted away from rom coms a fair amount too, but I'm glad I saw
Just Wright.
It was really charming and sweet and hot. Mostly I like movies where people try and kill other people. Hopefully, they are also funny.
I have a few old favorites --
Notting Hill
and
About a Boy --
but generally I'd watch
Pretty Woman
again before any new ones or anything with Tom Hanks or Meg Ryan ever again.
I can't even remember the last rom-com I saw in theatres. The genre does nothing for me.
before any new ones or anything with Tom Hanks or Meg Ryan ever again.
Not even
When Harry Met Sally?
I'm not a Meg fan, but that movie is solid. I'll also watch about 50% of what Sandra Bullock does in the genre.
I don't know if I'd classify
About a Boy
as a rom-com though. Nick Hornby adaptations can be tricky. I mean, the US version of
Fever Pitch
is definitely a rom-com.
High Fidelity?
Not so sure. What about
Grosse Point Blank?
I'm thinking about what I have in my dvd collection, and I think the only rom-com I have is Heart and Souls, with RDJ and Elisabeth Shue as the leads. Oh, and the tv movie of Who Am I This Time? with Christopher Walken and Susan Sarandon as the leads.
