Okay,
The Goonies
is AWESOME. As I believe I made clear in that COMM.
Most Hated Movie: The Thin Red Line.
There are a handful of others, but that's my go-to hate. I still want my three hours back.
Heh. We might not have all the same favorite movies, but oh, I share your hatred of The Thin Red Line. I think I've said, verbatim, that I wanted my 3 hours back.
Of course, if the director had just trimmed down the ENDLESS FUCKING SHOTS of Jim Cavieziel staring broodingly out of the boat for, like, 45 minutes, the movie would have been tighter and possibly easier to endure. (I was going to make a comparison here to Madame Butterfly, and the long-ass scene of Cio-Cio-San waiting for Pinkerton, but that's uber-geeky even for me.)
I am ita in that I also hated
LiT
and
Eternal Sunshine.
All those characters needed slapping! Another beloved film I hated:
American Beauty.
Ick.
We watched
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
last night. Also ick, but in a totally different way than
American Beauty.
Was it good? I wanna see it!
Another beloved film I hated: American Beauty. Ick.
I wanted to punch everyone in that movie.
Most Hated Films for me are:
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
and
Lost in Translation.
Like ita, no sympathy for the characters in LiT.
I hated
American Beauty,
too. There was one funny scene with the kid and the pot, but otherwise, ugh. Ugh ugh ugh.
I've had
Lost in Translation
and
Eternal Sunshine
in my NetFlix queue forever. Now I want to watch them and see where I fall on the like meter.
I was just thinking about how much I dislike
American Beauty
yesterday. It's a large amount. I almost feel like I should watch it again to see if I still hate it that much.
I know I'll never watch
Trainspotting
again, even though I know why I hated it at the time. I think the only one that grew on me was the first part of
Kill Bill --
I walked out of it, dragging Garv with me, but then we caught it on cable months later and I did wind up liking the second part more.
I still think it's overblown and self-indulgent and not much with the sense-making but there *could* have been a good movie in there if someone had restrained him.
I love Eternal Sunshine. I'm not sure if there are any so-called classics or critically acclaimed movies I hate.
I liked eternal Sunshine a whole lot. And Trainspotting. And Kill Bill.
Haven't seen Magnolia or Thin Red Line or Marie Antoinette.
Have no string feelings one way or the other about Lost in Translation or the Goonies (I don't think I've seen Goonies all the way through).
