So a couple days ago, Mal told me that they'd watched "the scariest movie EVER" at school.
He starts telling me about it: there's this cloud that floats around, and gets into things and makes them evil. Like, it gets into a tree and the tree becomes evil and starts grabbing the forest creatures with its branches, whcih have turned into big scary hands.
And it gets into a swordfish, and the swordfish starts sinking boats, and making whirlpools and stuff.
(And, because Mal's my kid, and a Winchester, he adds "It was possessing them like it was a DEMON!!!")
And there's this blue bunny rabbit that can fly, and the evil tree catches it and is squeezing, but then the tree starts fighting back against the demon cloud, and wraps its branches around itself and the bunny flies away.
I'm just staring at him blankly, because none of this is ringing a bell.
"Mal, do you have any idea what the name of this movie was?"
"Yeah. The Care Bears Movie."
Yeah. That actually is a pretty accurate summation. What he left out is that the animation is also demonically horrific.
Should I even admit that I knew what movie you meant from just

David Lynch's A Goofy Movie is pretty creepy, too.
This Betty Boop short is extremely creepy (and not work safe: Bimbo's Initiation via Boing Boing (Bimbo is the name of a dog.)

We watch Bimbo's Initiation fairly often around here. It's genius! What would Freud make of "Do you wanna be a member?"
I actually frequently chant "Wanna be a member? Wanna be a member?" to Matilda, and she always takes the perfect beat, makes a scrunched-up Bimbo face, and says sternly, "NO!" I love her dearly for it, among many other things.
Of the old Fleischer Brothers cartoons, "Bimbo's Initiation" is usually my second favorite. "Snow White" is usually my absolute utter favorite -- the "St. James Infirmary" section is every mad, swinging, endlessly inventive and gloriously grim thing

ever wanted to be.
But sometimes I switch it up and make "Bimbo's Initiation" my favorite, 'cause I'm capricious like that.
Are those available on something other than You Tube (which my computer apparently hates 90% of the time)?
