I enjoyed The Proposal, but Sandy Bullock and Ryan Reynolds pretty much hit my weak romcom spots.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Yeah, it's hard not to like naked Ryan Reynolds. And I do love them both. Plus! Added Craig T Nelson and dirty Betty White!
Aims said "hard" and "Ryan Reynolds" in the same sentence.
I have to pimp my favorite movie blog again, Die Die Danger Kill. He covers all sorts of odd genre movies from various international sources. It's Jungle Week so he's doing Tarzan knockoffs from India, Egypt, Mexico...
Scroll down on this link to see his animal star for this movie. It will make you laugh and/or make a sad, piteous noise. JZ did both. You have to scroll past the monkeys in blue lame.
DH is thrilled because our copy of The Hustler special edition DVD came today. He's watching it right now.

I love that movie so much. Gave me a crush on Piper Laurie which has never receded. I saw it at the Strand, one of those old movie palaces which had done time as a porn theater that (in SF) existed on Market Street. (They would have been on Hollywood or Time Square back in the day.)
It's DH #1 favorite. I never get tired of watching it. I'd love to see it on the big screen.
It's an amazing movie. So cool and desperate and broken and sexy.
Saw The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus last night. I quite like Terry Gilliam movies, he has very spicy brains, but I'm not sure I liked this one. I may have not been in a proper mindspace to appreciate a Gilliam-esque story of despair and what triumph can be retrieved from a twisted world. Self-destructive people and those who bring their own calamities upon themselves don't entertain me. But it did look gorgeous.
Did Gilliam do The Fisher King? Because there are similarities with the scenes where the protagonist follows the woman through an oblivious crowd.
It took me a while to pick up on the other actors playing Heath Ledger's character. All of a sudden I went, "Wait, that's Captain Jack Sparrow! Johnny Depp wasn't there before. Boy, this guy does a dead-on Captain Jack impression." I don't pick up on faces, but I do pick up on voices.
Did Gilliam do The Fisher King?
Yes.
