I haven't seen Iron Man yet, but I'm happy to say that I agree with ita about fights where the hero does a leg sweep, the lackey goes down and doesn't get up. I'm always looking behind the hero to see the bad guys jump up like insufficiently whacked moles. Ruins any good fight scene for me .
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I'm prepared to suspend disbelief for TKO leg sweeps along with the action movie idea that one gun shot takes out a bad guy, and hitting someone over the head knocks them out safely for a long time.
Problem for me in this particular segment is that they kept cutting back to a fight where a guy was taking multiple blows and not going down. So it was like she had a special ninja knockout leg sweep, but a burly guy's fists couldn't do shit.
There are ways to make women fighting look interesting. Start with casting, for instance. Then, from there, consider the choreography.
My issue with Scarlett is that her attempts to look serious and businesslike came across to me as a bad botox job - there are ways to look like a badass that don't involve completely immobilizing your face.
I haven't seen Iron Man 2 yet so I skippity skipped to post that I just re-watched Winchester '73 . Man I love that movie but I never realized Rock Hudson was in it. I watched the whole movie trying to figure out who he was. Then I looked it up, laughed and watched it again. oh Hollywood! You're so silly sometimes.
Iron Man 2 made $134 million.
Nightmare on Elm St. made $9 million.

I feel badly for Jackie Earle Haley. He's one of my current favorites and I want him to succeed. While I would not see an Elm St. movie on a bet (not my speed) and I was sad to see a clip that proved his performance was not up to the original (Even HE says Robert Englund is Freddie), I wish it had done better.
Englund's turn as the creepy high school janitor on a recent Bones was very funny.
Which episode was that? I missed it!
The high school reunion, maybe 3 back.
