So, currently at the house I have Firemen's Ball, Disc 2 of Neverwhere and Perfume.
I have heard that people say there are underlying messages in Fireman's Ball having to do with the Soviet takeover of Czechoslovakia, though Forman denies it, and I was wondering if anyone knows what I should be looking for.
I just read the Wired article about Troll 2 this morning. And it was from over a month ago.
Random!
The Italian film fest continues. After seeing
Vincere
in theaters (amazing performance by Giovanna Mezzogiorno as Mussolini's mistress/wife), I Netflixed
Buongiorno, notte,
an earlier film of Bellocchio about the Aldo Moro kidnapping. I was happy to have seen it before renting
Il divo,
since the Moro kidnapping is referenced several times.
I highly recommend both,
Il divo
in particular,
which makes some very interesting stylistic and musical choices. At one point, I almost felt sorry for the bastard.
And the opening few minutes are very cool.
I just got my dvd of Passion of Joan of Arc in the mail today--got something to watch this weekend!!
I just watched
The Hangover.
I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Apart from a few amusing lines here and there, it wasn't all that funny.
I was really appalled at what happened to the groom. I couldn't get over that and after I learned where he was the whole time, that cast a shadow over the rest of the movie. I mean, damn.
I nodded off during important plot development, so I'm not really sure what happened to him, and I didn't care enough to rewind. The tone of the movie was completely not what I was expecting. I thought it would be more of a wacky romp, and instead it was sort of dull.
I just got back from
Iron Man 2,
which was not quite as good as the first one, but did contain a scene where
RDJ builds a particle accelerator by hand, with his shirt off.
So that was all right.
Could I go see Iron Man 2 if I still haven't seen Iron Man 1 and know nothing about the story from the comics?
