I saw Kickass last night with Beau. Beau was incredibly excited to see this movie, so because of this, I did not do my regular due diligence of checking out rotten tomatoes, trying to find out what the movie was about, etc. I don't think I read one review completely.
It is odd for me to go into a movie and generally know so little about it.
I was very entertained by this movie. I think the movie has some problems, but man is it entertaining and definitely funny in parts. It helped that I was in a full theater with people who were into the movie.
Kickass reminds me a lot of Wanted. I think I received about the same kind of entertainment level from both movies.
Minor Problems: from a plot perspective, there are some people in the film who act in totally stupid ways. It defies logic that people would behave like this. I might be able to wave it away, but I kept getting taken out of the movie by thinking things like: WTF are you doing? Are you crazy?
Second, the editor of the film included some really rough cuts. It feels like there were additional scenes that were cut out and their absence is palpable.
Third, this is really not that deep, but the hairstyles of the protagonist and his buddies is so far away from 2010 that I kept wondering what year this movie took place. I would nearly have this thought every time any one of them showed up on screen. For the life of me, I don't understand why such 70s/80s hair had to show up like this.
I would rate this movie as a "B" for its entertainment value. I think this grade also includes bonus points for Nicolas Cage not ruining the film.

Both movies are based on comics by Mark Millar, so that makes sense.
