Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Long and relaxed for Smallville, IIRC.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Feh on the straightening hegemony.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Feh on the straightening hegemony.

It's hardly a new look for Pam, though.

Feh on Pam. I'm talking about what drives the difference between what the character looks like on paper and what she looks like onscreen. And, really, unless you cast CCH, you're going to get flowing tresses instead of something much more no-nonsense and actually Walleresque.

Which isn't to hate on all women with straightened hair. It's just that it's so everywhere that even characters not created that way have to end up with it, and it annoys me. God forbid what they might do to Martha Washington.

Ah, I mean my Martha Washington, not yours. They'd probably cast Beyonce and have her sporting waist-length hair.

No, I knew who you meant. She was in something besides "Give Me Liberty"? THAT I did not know.

Heh. I didn't know about the other Martha Washington until ten years ago.

Martha's appearances. Huh. I don't have the 2007 one. Need to go shopping.

Huh. I didn't realize there'd been so many. I stopped following Miller's work very closely (and most comics for a while) after the first series.

Compassionately intolerant

I love Neil Gaiman more than I should and that Oscars piece was made of charming.

Oh, Lee Pace, no.
