There's more than one way to skin a cat. And I happen to know that's factually true.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

Derek Strange says that a lot. Like when Quinn finds him all moody and grunting, he'll say "Bad day at Black Rock, Terry." and I'm a moron for not understanding it's a reference as my man George does love his old Westerns.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Kurosawa is so fucking awesome.

I don't think I've ever watched one all the way through.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The first one I watched was Rashomon because my improv troupe played a game called that, and I needed to know. It was like a dose of crack.

Our wings are not tired.

Kurosawa is so fucking awesome.

And he found his perfect representative in Mifune.

Ran is incredible, but the last shot of the poor guy who's dropped his Buddha icon is just too heartbreaking.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Spencer Tracy is a war vet with one arm - but he knows karate so don't fuck with him!

True

The town is corrupt - somebody got lynched? - something like that and he goes to investigate.

Actually he innocently comes to town to find the father of a war buddy and give him his son's medal (I think the father is Japanese-American or an immigrant). The townspeople, who essentially killed the dude, think he is there to investigate so they try to run him out of town.

But he has karate and chops people left and right. With his one arm.

True.

And that's not one of the plots of a Kurosawa/spaghetti western? Heck, maybe it was a play by Euripides, all the greats "borrow" ideas from each other.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yay, my DVR is happy to record all the Kurosawa it can find! I think I've only actually seen Ran all the way through - on the big screen, even, so wonderful. Maybe Yojimbo but under distracting circumstances so I don't really remember it.

"I've got a gun! I've got a mother-flippin' gun!" - Moss, The IT Crowd

As much as I loved the Iron Man 2 full trailer - and I did love it Steph, don't kill me - I wish they'd left the last shot out as they had done such a fabulous job in both the teaser and the trailer of setting up the racetrack scene's seemingly inescapable jeopardy. It would have been a great surprise in the movie.

Still I'm sure there'll be plenty others.

And yet, the Tron Legacy trailer got my blood pumping even more than IM2 and I really wasn't expecting that. Certainly helped that the music was brilliant.
