Oh dear.
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I love 12 Monkeys, and La Jetee was all right.
Do you hear that? That is the sound of Corwood's ultimate pain disdain.
I thought Cloverfield was great.
I didn't dislike Cloverfield but I have no desire to watch it again. Mostly I'm glad I saw it so I could get the jokes when South Park was invaded by guinea pigs.
Cloverfield mostly bored me. The characters were all too dumb to live and there wasn't even a minimal attempt to get NYC right. I think if it had been a better story I wouldn't have been so thrown by the massive geography and continuity errors, but there really wasn't much else to focus on.

What you didn't see was when the monster had first attacked a couple of weeks before and just jumbled everything up like a game of Boggle.
I enjoyed Cloverfield well enough, but it's not one of those movies where I'm shocked and appalled that others didn't. And as it's basically Godzilla with shakycam and bonus explosive-venomed giant lice, I seriously doubt that many people have formed a dislike of it due to failure to understand it.
We started calling it "Six Douchebags, a Monster, and the City."
"Six Douchebags, a Monster, and the City."
This is brilliant, and I'm stealing it.
As far as Avatar goes, if I view it as a 1950s/60s pulp sci-fi B movie, I really enjoy it. If I start thinking about the massive story/plot problems, my head explodes.
Sadly, it's become impossible for me to think of it as anything but Jim Cameron's sweaty junk swinging in my face for 3 hours.
I hated Cloverfield so deeply, I actually shouted at it while watching. Aims, your title is perfect.
I don't remember 12 Monkeys much. I do have a certain fondness for the spectacle of The Fifth Element, though. Mostly naked Milla helps.
