So I finally saw 9 last night. I spent the first half of the movie why Jessica didn't like it, then the last half of the movie came and I fully saw the MEH. Fantastic, beautiful ideas (for the most part). Ultimately disappointing.
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Whoa. Disney's Recycled Animation. It's freaky to see all the recycled scenes.
What does a Twilight werewolf look like when he's wolfed out? And what does a vampire look like in attack mode? I've never seen a Jacob picture that wasn't shirtless Lautner beefcake. And I just read that the Teen Wolf remake is barely going to fur the new guy up. I'm not sure why they bother.
Because it's completely unrelated...they're making a movie of game Battleship. And it's going to be about aliens.
How in hell is that a movie about Battleship? Or was I playing the wrong version as a kid?
Yeah, I was baffled about that. Upon reading the synopsis, it makes a vague, tiny amount of sense.

The vamps don't change their appearance.
7 months ago I did not know any of this.
That's not true - the vamps eyes turn red, I think.
Battleship. Speedy Gonzales. Showgirls: The Return.
Jacob wolfed out
All the way to wolf. That explains the lack of imagery. No wonder that fangirl who wrote the letter about Wolfman was so traumatised by their imagery.
It's probably the fault of movies that werewolves are so often wolf-like men, what with wolves not being good at learning lines and hitting marks. I wonder if improving CGI will change that, or shallowness will reduce that.
Even reading the Battleship synopsis at IO9 doesn't help me. It's a set piece? That's it?

I'm guessing the aliens have some EMP or other anti-electronics technology, forcing us to use old-fashioned technology, like big guns on a battleship. (Then again, maybe the filmmakers have put less thought than this into it.
But why the aliens just land their spaceship in the water and sit there is beyond me....
