Way, WAY too 80s onward-centric. If Plan 9 is the only movie prior to 1980 on the list, I question the whole premise of the thing. And, lord, Plan 9 is so overrated on the bad movie scale, even by Ed Wood standards - try Bride of the Monster for truly awful (though at least it IS Lugosi there through the whole thing). And I'm sorry, Armageddon was worse than Batman and Robin and it isn't even on the list.
Sorry to post and run, but I sort of thought Book of Eli being Zardoz was conventional wisdom. I mean, the first time I saw the Eli trailer I recognized it.

I'm just impressed that anyone understood the plot of Zardoz well enough to adapt it.
Fantastic Mr. Fox was most enjoyable and very funny.
Loved all the late Beach Boys selections, and Jason Schwartzman's performance in particular. The visuals were delightful in their rough and readiness. A contrast to Coraline's standard setting beauty. (Though both movies are complete successes in their own style.)
Loved Meryl Streep's interaction with George Clooney. Glad animation allows them to be lovers in a way that live action probably wouldn't.

Nope. It's only very roughly modeled on the book for plot and characters. The dialogue is all very Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach.
It's an excellent movie but only a loose adaptation. I love the book (especially the audio book with Dahl himself reading) but it's not really like that in tone or flavor.

I just watched Summer Hours, which was lovely and moving and highly recommended for anyone with a family of any kind. It hit a lot of notes with me, and a lot of different ones for DH.

I don't think so. It's basically the plot to Fantastic Mr. Fox. And it hits the same plot points: tail gets shot off, digging underground into storehouses etc. It's just Not English, very improv acting dialogue (though funny), lots of visual jokes etc.
hadn't heard of Summer Hours, but I am finding myself hungry for movies with discernably human storylines. (Note: not as in human vs animal, more human vs BANG!POW!CRASH!!!)
