I was going to bitch that
The Book of Eli
had flown entirely under my radar (I just bumped into the trailer doing my periodic Apple TV trailer review), but then I realised I've had pics of Denzel up on one of my sites from it since September. I just never knew where they'd come from.
So I'm back around to bitching. Have I just been skipping the ads on TiVo? The trailer totally looks like something I'd rewind for, Mila Kunis notwithstanding. Or is it flying close to the ground because it's supposed to be a turkey (I haven't seen much analysis of it, bar one site that called it Denzel's version of
The Postman,
which isn't good--but they sounded very amused with themselves)?
Given that they're releasing it in January, it doesn't seem like a good sign.
If pics from it have been available since September, that's especially not a good sign.
I get the Avatar hate from that article, but if you approach it like it's a pulp story from the 1930s - 1950s, it's actually stunningly fair to women. They have agency, and are not in refrigerators.
French long trailer for Inception.
It occurs to me that Christopher Nolan may supplant Ang Lee for the position of my favourite director. Until he makes a
Hulk-
shaped misstep.
Intriguing NYT review on Police, Adjective - a Romanian crime procedural with an emphasis on grammar.
Oh dear. It's like they made that movie just for Buffistas....
Romanian grammar is a bitch. It's the only language that has retained Latin conjugation.
ita, I am SO looking forward to "Inception." I just can't stand it. Nothing has been exciting to me as far as new movie releases in months. I've enjoyed movies I've seen, but nothing that gave me that "I'm going to midnight show, fuck it" kind of feeling.
Finally saw a trailer for "Book of Eli." Looks intriguing.
