I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Is that the one...yes, checking IMDB, I see it is.

Have you gotten to the cannibal glam concert yet?

Is that in the middle somewhere? I'm kind of nearing the end, and I did play a quick game of Wii Bowling in the middle, so I may have missed that, but that may just be enough to get me to rewatch.

They are currently making their escape from Medieval-Land in the Bentley, and now we're in Road Warrior Country. This really is just a messy, silly movie.

Yeah, it's at the beginning, after they get captured, when they're barbecuing the redshirts.

Yeah, I was wandering in and out a little during that part of the film, because it is what it is, but I'll probably end up trying to rewatch it with a little more attention someday. Or at least try and catch the bits I've missed.

Oh, I loved that part of the movie. In fact, the whole movie is just a glorious mess.

It really, really is, and I think I kind of love it now. And if the main character were male? Or Eden was played differently? It would just be a massive suckfest.

But Rhona Mitra totally sold me on the whole package. I hope to see her in other stuff.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Inglourious Basterds: pretty awesome. It's essentially a series of tense conversations, punctuated with bursts of violence. It actually reminded me of No Country For Old Men with the prolonged suspense. But this has more catharsis, thank goodness.

Totally agree with Strega here. And people's opinions are definitely going to come down on which side of the Tarantino fence they are on, I think.

That said, Christoph Waltz earned every accolade he's received. Just an astonishing performance (in three, no, four different languages).

And, historical accuracy way, WAY aside (like, we're in an AU here), there's something deeply, satisfyingly primal about seeing Hitler obliterated by machine gun fire. A lot.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

It's definitely a throwback to Miyazaki's earlier movies - much more similar to Totoro or Kiki's Delivery Service than Mononoke or Spirited Away.

It lacked the gorgeous depth of detail the landscapes have in Totoro or Kiki, though. I think visually Totoro may be the most gorgeous animated film ever. Or, I could be completely prejudiced. Spirited Away comes closest to it.
