I think it played at the film festival here last fall. I heard good things.

I haven't seen Audition though. While I may be pretty hardcore about scary movies, I know my limits and something tells me a movie that freaked Rob Zombie out is going to be beyond them.

Yeah, I haven't seen it. I've seen clips, but not the entire movie.

Blair Witch terrified me. There were parts of that movie that come straight out of a recurring nightmare I have had for decades. I have never watched it again, and I don't feel the need to.

I haven't seen The Ring/Ringu. Enough people I know who have seen it have assured me that I should never, ever watch it, because it would freak me out too much, and that I wouldn't sleep for a very long time. When friends tell me that, I listen to them.

For the most part it was just creepy, but the bits at the end made me jump ten feet out of my seat.

Speaking of horror movies:

what are your most memorable (and early) horror movie experiences?

a) in 9th grade I saw "Omen" at a friend's birthday party. It was not as scary as I thought it would be, but apparently I was the only at the party not screaming;

b) in elementary school (or jr. high), I saw "Burnt Offerings" on tv and that fucked my shit up for a couple of weeks. It is not a particularly good movie, but I found it really scary as a kid.

c) in college, I screamed through about 1/3rd of "The Lost Boys" at a dorm video party. My roommate and I were hugging each other during the last 30 minutes. It helped us bond...

Alien and Halloween freaked my shit out when I was young. Was it spaghetti that they were eating in Alien around when the belly-ripping starts? Whatever it was was what was on the menu for lunch afterwards. My friend's leg brushed mine under the table and I about lost it.

My early horror movie experiences included Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Pulse. I think I was sometimes afraid of being burnt to death in the shower because of the latter.

Also, Candyman gave me nightmares. I watched it at an age when I covered my eyes when there was nudity. And then I slept on a couch downstairs next to a glass door; the whole night I was afraid someone was going to come in the room.

I saw Poltergeist when I was about 14, and I didn't sleep for DAYS. Especially because on the way home, the parents and I were talking about what scared us the most, and I mentioned the clown doll.
