Like, why do the kids hide from the guy they think is a police officer in the beginning?
I think they're not supposed to be in the back of the truck. They're worried that their dad will get in trouble for having them there.
What's the deal with the mom's mysterious illness?
I figured it was lupus or something like that. I think I read that Miyazaki based it on his own mother's illness when he was a child.
It's never lupus.(/House)
Except for, in rather an ultimate irony, Flannery O'Connor.
That totally was.
(Sorry. I'm sure Corwood knows whereof he speaks.)
I just saw
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
It was not horrendously awful but not nearly as awesome as the first one. I'm pretty sure all the funny stuff in the first movie was actually funny, whereas almost every attempt at humor fell flat this time. Bizarre.
And the black monkey robots were
terrible.
Who in God's name thought that was a good idea?
Monkey robots? That's the first time I've heard them called that. Ouch.
Their faces are like monkeys.
Oh, also,
District 9
looks AWESOME. I really want to see it.
I'd be careful with the phrase "black monkey."
Oh, sorry. I was trying to point out the racism in the movie, not be racist myself.
I can also recommend (500) Days of Summer. Lovely.
Slightly spoilerish casting news for Deathly Hallows which addresses some of the questions brought up by HBP:
1.
* Bill Weasley was portrayed by Richard Fish in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. However, he only appeared in a photo of the Weasley family in Egypt. Fish won't return for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; he will be replaced by Brendan Gleeson's son Domhnall.
2.
* Despite not being in the Half-Blood Prince film, photos for the Deathly Hallows show Bill with the scars left by Fenrir Greyback.
