I feel like talking about future books is okay in Literary but maybe should be whitefonted in here? Is that being completely anal retentive?
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Well yes, but that doesn't mean you're wrong.
yes. I think that's right, Jessica.
Aims - 100% agreement. There are about 2-3 narrative threads in the final book that I worry about them resolving given the choices they made in this movie.
Yes, specifically, it was Fred's death that sounded like something that maybe hadn't happened yet, but in general major character death strikes me as something that should get spoiler font.
Not only does Owen want to see the guinea pig movie, he wants a guinea pig (which he insists should be a special agent) that he will teach to talk.
If by "talk" he means "squeak and trill when being fed," they do make nice little pets.
However, they produce a truly staggering quantity of poo per animal, all in neat little jellybean-looking packets, so it's probably best to wait until any children are past the pick-anything-up-and-taste-it stage.

Or not, for the full educational experience.
So I finally saw HBP. I liked parts of it, but like most Potter films, there's so much to fill in. I felt the first half, with all the young love was weakest. The director was asking those actors to convey a lot in small gestures, little touches, and this is where their weaknesses as actors came out. I don't think any of them were particularly good at giving or receiving in those moments. And since those subtle messages didn't seem to be conveyed I felt that those scenes feel rushed.
The movie was more successful for me from when Harry took Felix Felicis on. From that scene I was completely caught up in the action. Even when I didn't agree with things, like Harry standing pat in the Astronomy Tower scene (Harry is known for not listening to anyone else but his conscience, and I really can't see him staying below when Dumbledore is threatened.) I did miss the battle, and Sumbledore's funeral but would have been happier with a little more acknowledgement of Dumbledore.
I loved the final scene with Ron, Harry and Hermione, but can't figure out why Ron had no lines.
In the end, the movie had pulled me far enough into its world that walking out of the theatre, that seemed to be the strange world. And it took a little while to shake off the spell of the movie.
But yeah if you don't want to hear, "grr-ree! grr-ree! gree-ree!" every time you open the veggie crisper, consider getting a hamster.
Maybe we were wrong on our predictions for the DH wedding?
