For myself,I really don't want Rey to be a Skywalker or related to any of the old cast.
I agree. I thought she'd call Luke "Father" when she found him, and I was glad she didn't.
'Get It Done'
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

That said, why did
I wondered that, too, and my best guess is that Leia decided her role was to continue to lead the Resistance (man, I cheered when they called her "General") rather than to be trained as a Jedi.
She obviously can sense some things, because she knew when Han died.
Dana, I think that's kind of spoilery info for being outside the spoiler tags.
It looks whitefont to me, but I'll edit the whole post to white it out.
Not your most recent post, Dana; 2 posts back.
Oh, shit. Sorry. Fixed now.
Rey is a delight. I left the theater wanting to be just like her (which at 48, with poor coordination and muscle tone, seems unlikely). Daisy Ridley's face is very expressive. And Rey's outfit looked pretty practical, with just enough odd drapery to not seem like something I'd see at the local coffee house. It seems like it might be fairly easy to reproduce for cosplay .
Tumblr is full of Finn/Poe shippers.
I can actually see that, yeah.
I want Rey's shoes. Really, that's what I was thinking.
