He was meant to be upstaged in the action scenes by literally everyone else around him. Casting The Rock kind of puts a damper on that.
I think The Rock can pull that off. He's surprisingly good at physical comedy.
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Agreed. He can sell both the toughness (faux or otherwise) as well as the doofiness.
Remember, this man starred in The Tooth Fairy.
Which I actually saw. (We take Tim's nieces and nephews to the movies several times a year, and it came out in 2010, so some of them were still young enough to want to see it, so...we saw it. Hey, it wasn't as bad as the bridezilla movie with Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway [also a niece movie]. That one was horrible upon horrible.)

This. I can see him with the expectation of kicking ass but getting foiled all the time.
For ultimate goofy!Rock, watch Pain and Gain. That movie had M & me going "Did they actually just do that?" the entire first half. Also, bonus Anthony Mackie. In spandex and a fanny pack. For reasons.
Yeah, I was actually disappointed to hear that he'd be playing Black Adam in the DC movie-verse. I think he could have done really well with the goofy earnestness of Captain Marvel (I refuse to call the character Shazam.)
He does kind of look dead-on Black Adam, though.
I want to see Terry Crewes and The Rock co star in some kind of action buddy comedy movie.
If they can't do something original, maybe remake Tango and Cash???
He does kind of look dead-on Black Adam, though. That is true.
Ooh, I am on board for the Unnamed Terry and The Rock Buddy Movie.
