I don't think we'll see a Spidey origin story from the MCU. They know better. Especially since they're bringing Spidey into an Marvel movie
first.
We didn't get a rehash of the hulk's origin story in The Avengers, so I don't see them giving an origin for a supporting character, especially one as iconic as him.
It will be interesting to see how they integrate him if they actually DO stick with it being the same Spidey as the last movies, though. Why didn't he help in Avengers?
Why didn't he help in Avengers?
The Toast addresses this: [link] (humor, but still). (Okay, not Spider-Man, but still funny.) (Disclaimers over.)
"Hulk out with your bulk out!"
excellent. I read all of that in their voices.
The best thing about the Spider-Man news is that now they can have J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. I imagine the Daily Bugle has a few things to say about Tony Stark...
Why didn't he help in Avengers?
If I remember correctly he lives and goes to school in Queens. The battle might have been over by the time he heard what was going on.
The handwavium I heard was that he was doing damage control at home.
I don't think the Chitauri made it out of Manhattan, so any damage he had to deal with at home was probably caused by rubberneckers gawking at the big hole in the sky.
If Marvel had owned the rights to the character at that time, I would have loved to see him show up after the credits bitching about delays on the 7 train.
BTW, does Stan Lee only show up in movies coming out of Marvel Studios?
I think he's been in just about every Marvel movie except the Blade and Punisher series.
