Maybe a generation raised on Twilight doesn't need things like coherent plot, believable characterizations, romantic screen chemistry, or female agency to enjoy a movie?

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Isn't that the one that's just pictures? Because the visuals do look good in the trailers.
From a post I saw on tumblr, the liking of Jupiter Ascending is because it is so terribly bad that it becomes comical and kind of turns in on itself that way. It sounds like one of those movies MST3K would have loved.
I can now say I have met two more celebrities in person: William Shatner and James Marsters. For whatever reason, a comic con was held in Madison this weekend and actually had some decent guests. I got pictures taken with Shatner and Marsters, plus an autograph from James on the photo. Actually got to chat with him a little about the panel of his I sat through. Surprised the hell out of him when I told him that one of my favorite roles of his was Buzz Aldrin. Also saw Eliza Dushku, but didn't do a photo with her, the timing wasn't right. Although, she did a great panel.
Yeah, everything I've seen on Tumblr about Jupiter Ascending is that it's pretty, and ridiculously bad.
My brother just pointed me towards a movie that's going to be at one of the local indie theaters soon. Anybody heard anything about What We Do in the Shadows ? I've managed to pick up Vampire Comedy, New Zealand, and one of the Flight of the Conchords guys. Anybody got the skinny?
Anybody heard anything about What We Do in the Shadows
That it's a spoof documentary about a group of real vampires who share a house, and that everyone I know who's seen it says it's hilarious. I've backed the Kickstarter for the US DVD/BluRay distribution, even tho' I haven't seen the movie yet.
Okay, I saw Jupiter Ascending and enjoyed it. Of course, I don't get to the movies much so my standards are probably pretty low - but I do enjoy retellings of fairy tales so it worked for me.
The NPR interview on What We Do in the Shadows sounded hilarious!
The piece I saw about What We Do in the Shadows said something about it being about Vampires who are flatmates.
Short version: New Spider-man movie summer 2017, co-produced by Feige and Marvel Studios. Sometime BEFORE that, Spidey will appear in an MCU movie, no word which one yet.
