I'm not surprised by Cumberbuttons getting a nom for Imitation Game, but I'm disappointed. Sherlock with a stutter is not exactly a stretch for him. (Not that he did badly, but...yawn.)
I am appalled right alongside JZ that Fiennes' name isn't up there. COME THE FUCK ON DID YOU EVEN WATCH THE MOVIE ACADEMY.
Jesus, it's practically the only commercial on right now
Must have missed it from FF'ing through all the commercials! *hugs the TiVo*
I went and wiki'd the title. Nope, my interest is not peaked at the slightest.
I didn't hate it, unlike Linda Holmes, but I wasn't wowed.
That must have been where I got the "critically panned" impression. I went back to her TIFF reviews and wow, Linda Holmes really hated it. I might give it a gander when it comes out on DVD.
Or they've giving them to older actors on the gamble that "Oh, this is their last movie, I bet, better award them with something."
But, it's Meryl Streep! It's not like she's hurting for lack of recognition. If they were to pick anyone from the cast of Into the Woods, they should have picked Emily Blunt, who did a lot more emotionally nuanced work.
Ah well. The whole thing is a giant popularity contest anyway.
Y'all seen the Lego Movie's response, right?
It's Bradley Cooper--as you've never seen him before.
I thought he was Joaquin Phoenix the first few times I saw the ad, so they're actually delivering on that score.

Thank you for posting that, because whenever I see the ad, I have to reassure myself that I don't have anterograde amnesia because of my consistent inability to recognize Bradley Cooper until they tell me it's Bradley Cooper.
In my defense, it's the short ad where he doesn't speak that trips me up.
I listen for him to sound like Rocket Raccoon.
No, I do.
It's Bradley Cooper--as you've never seen him before.
Yeah, I thought GotG was Bradley Cooper as we've never seen him before. In American Sniper he plays a human dude and he doesn't even have superpowers. Whatever.
I have seen more movies nominated for Best Visual Effects(3) than for Best Film(1).
Given my taste in movies, this isn't really surprising.
