I found GotG fun, but not up to the hype. Or even the previews. They were funnier.

I agree that it doesn't live up to the hype, but there was a lot of really funny shit in the movie that wasn't in the previews. The thing with Rocket asking for the guy's leg and then the guy's eye killed us.

The movie is actually not as relentlessly goofy and comedic as the trailers make it look. It has a lot of lighter moments and typical undercut-the-drama Marvel humor, but it's also very much a dramatic movie. Pretty good balance.

I might go see it to listen to Vin Diesel, though, provided he has enough dialogue...

I loved GotG muchly, although in a different way than I loved the recent Captain America film. I loved Rocket, but found that Drax got the biggest laughs from me.

I liked it a lot better than I expected to based on the trailers. Most of Peter Quill being an unlikeable smartass was in them, so that character was a lot easier to sympathize with in the film as a whole.

Yeah, we missed the next minute or so of dialogue after Rocket revealed he was fucking with Quill about needing the leg because the whole audience was laughing so hard.

I spent most of the movie thinking "This is fun, but only on a surface level for me," but then I thought they nailed the ending and the found family thing.

I went with IMAX 3D, and I think that was a good call. More for the IMAX than the 3D.

Totally. And, during the prison fight and at The Collector's and roughly 1/3 of the whole dang movie. So much laughing and shouting.

Absolutely this, too. I expected to be rolling my eyes at the lead throughout, but ended up finding that character completely charming.

In future installments, I hope Gamora is given more dialog beyond rolling her eyes at pretty much everyone.

And, with all due respect to Amy Pond fans, I felt like Karen Gillan proved again that she can't really act her way out of a wet paper bag. She didn't have much to work with, of course, but still. On the other hand, her paint job was beautiful.
