Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I just saw XMen:DoFP. I have a couple of questions.
How did Anna Paquin get into the credits. I don't remember her in the movie at all except for the brief glimpse.
Also, I have no idea what was going on in the post credits scene. None at all. And I've been a Marvel fan since the 70's. I haven't read all of the comics but I kind of know most of the characters.
I just went and read the spoilers on IMDB so I now have answers to most of my questions.
I still have one left: what happened to Moira?
So the "Rogue
had shot more footage that ended up on the cutting room floor"
isn't needed? Well, maybe it'll save someone else a few clicks.
I Just watched F&F6 again, and I really need to own that movie. I think it's by far the best of the sextology.
I hope 7 doesn't make me cry. Apparently they're going to animate Paul's face on his brother's body?
Cry or puke.
That's creepy in an uncanny valley way. I don't like this strange new world where the dead are reanimated for tv commercials and--apparently--film.
Agreed, Burrell. Sounds icky.
It sounds like what they are going to do is something similiar to what the Orphan Black special fx crew uses. I saw a special about Tatiana's double (whose name I'm forgetting) and in that they showed how she acts with and then usually when it's two clones together it's the double and Tatiana and they digital alter Tatiana's face on to the other actress.
Obviously this is different because Paul Walker is dead, but I got the impression they were trying to handle finishing his scenes as respectfully as possible.
I assume Paul Walker's stand in looks enough like him they could have done something like that with his stand in, or used his stand in but not shown his face, which would have been weird. I would hope that if the scenes weren't necessary they just would have left them out. I'm holding judgement unitl the movie comes out.
So... anybody seen Malificent yet? I'm waiting for a consensus to see if I bother.
I just watched Snowpiercer, and then read a couple of reviews, and I'm really glad I knew so little about it. I'd seen people recommending staying away from trailers, and although I haven't seen one yet, it's definitely a film worth loving or hating going in, uh, cold.
I, personally, loved it. I didn't realise until way into the movie that I needed a subtitle file--most of it is in English, but there is important dialogue in Korean (I *think* it's Korean?).
A true delight for all SWINTON fans. And I really don't want Chris Evans to stop acting.

She has more than one, in "making of" that I've seen. But surely one primary one.
Colin tried to remove all the magic from that for me by over-explaining, in even more detail than the making-ofs, but when I pointed out we could tell when she was one clone pretending to be another clone, he pretty much nodded and gave props.
Which--the effects are good, but they've been working on those for a long while now. What Tatiana is doing is much rare, and I'm going to assume much harder, judging by the number of actors with 3 expressions and 2 characters.

I'm assuming it will be way more sophisticated than Brandon Lee (how old are we???) but it will be morbidly interesting to compare it to the final
Hunger Games.
So I finally saw Only Lovers Left Alive and, yes, that's EXACTLY what I expected from a Jim Jarmusch vampire movie (that's a good thing, btw).
Also, SWINTON!!!!!
