My first time seeing her was at a Writers with Drinks thing at the Make-Out room. P-C, were you by chance there? It was to see Stephanie (Keckler) read from a recap. We had dinner first across the street...

I wasn't there, but I met Keckler for lunch at the Ferry Building a year or two ago. I met Charlie Jane at WonderCon (and I also ran into her after the Terminator Salvation screening).

And so was Andy Garcia (the young version).

Oh, the young Andy Garcia was, indeed, quite beautiful. I will watch The Untouchables every single time it's on, for that reason alone.

Except Ms. Dunst did not look like Tony Clifton. Ari Gold was right...a sexy trailer can hide a lot of shit.OTOH, I should have known a Best Costuming winner would never, um, blow my skirt up.

I love The Untouchables! For the pretty that is Andy Garcia, the fun that is Charles Martin Smith, and the awesomeness that is Sean Connery. NSM for Kevin Costner--just about anyone could have played Ness at the same level if not better than he did.

He really blew the delivery of the big speech to the judge at the end of the film, when he says (IIRC), "I have become what I have beheld, and I am content to have done so." That was a key statement for Elliot Ness, and he buried it in the midst of the rest of the monologue.

Then I definitely wasn't there! I moved here in 2006. And aha, I met Keckler on February 18, 2007. I have not seen her since, sadly.

There's a line that Robin Williams had in Dead Again that has always stuck with me. When he notices Branaugh chewing on his pen, he grills him about being a smoker. When Branaugh says he's quit, Williams responds to the effect of "No you haven't. Look, you're either a smoker or you're not. Pick one and be that."

That always stuck with me, too. It actually helped me quit smoking for awhile (4 years) because in my brain I decided I was a smoker who didn't need to smoke. And actually, I find my one cigarette a day now (with a glass of wine) to be very enjoyable-- much more so than smoking a lot.
