Now that I have finally seen the film, I can report that My father-in-law can be seen early in American hustle with his arm around Jeremy Renner's shoulder as their picture is being taken.

Fun! I wish I had known that!
It was fun. It's a really clear shot of him, if only for a few seconds with no lines. And I figure I'm 3 degrees from Joss now. The Worcester thing was kind of distracting trying to figure out exactly what parts were shot there and where they were. I may have missed part of the plot as a result. Such as exactly whose idea it was to get the mafia involved.

Awesome! Scola and I just saw it today. It was funnier than I expected.
I really liked it too. sj, how cool about your FIL! I was pretty excited to see that the scene in the fancy restaurant where Jennifer Lawrence goes with her Mafia boyfriend was filmed in a restaurant in my hometown. I think I've only been there once, but it's got big windows that look out onto the beach and bay, and it was so cool to see *my* beach up on the big screen! You could really see it well, too, even the faint skyline of Boston in the distance. I know that view very well.
sj, now you're only two degrees away from all the Avengers and Joss.

I know! I counted it as three from Joss in my post upthread, but I always get that confused. FIL chatted with Renner in between takes and said he was very nice.
Kris Straub has seen the Godzilla remake!
Synopsis. Nuclear testing awakens an undersea beast that threatens the city of Tokyo, California. The creature is dubbed “Godzilla’s Monster” for its discoverer Dr. Lloyd Godzilla (Bryan Cranston).
It only gets better from there.

...what? So, no more Gojira? No more the actual name of the monster that the people gave him? I don't like that.
Pretty sure that's a joke. (The "Lloyd Godzilla" thing. Don't know about "Gojira.")
