Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Some interesting omissions, as mentioned.
I want someone to explain to me how the Academy decided that The Lone Ranger deserved a nomination for best visual effects, but NOT Pacific Rim.
SERIOUSLY!!!!!
Sorry for that asscaps, but they were deserved.
DO NOT APOLOGIZE FOR THE ASSCAPS ABOUT THIS. I HAVE BEEN RAGEFLAILING AT THE INFAMOUS BLUEJAY ABOUT THIS SINCE THE NEWS BROKE.
I figured Pacific Rim wouldn't get many nominations. But to not even be nominated for Best Effects? WTF.
It'll be THE HOBBIT: WE'VE GOT AN AMAZING FUCKING DRAGON anyway, so I can't be too bitter. Much as I loved giant robots versus monsters, Smaug kicked ass.
I totes give it to the dragon, because DRAGON!, but I'm guessing it'll go to Gravity.
I would have liked Smaug more if he had been punched in the face by a giant robot.
And now I'm picturing Sherlock facing off against a transformer. Hilarious.
I finally saw Catching Fire tonight. It was good! And made pretty good sense out of the crazed ending of the book.
And I did not get carsick watching it, although now I have a headache and feel a little nauseous. Bah.
