Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I saw Her yesterday and loved it. (This is Spike Jonze's new movie about a man who falls in love with his new AI operating system.) It's touching and funny but doesn't make fun of its characters or make a statement about the evils of technology.

It takes place in the "near future" so the world feels a lot like ours which makes it relatable. I found myself completely buying the premise from the get-go. (Or maybe I just find it easy to suspend my disbelief about a Scarlett Johansson-voiced AI OS.) Speaking of, Johansson is amazing in this voice-only role.

I guess some find it a little disturbing, but to me the most disturbing part was how men in this future all wear high-waisted pants.

ETA: Huh, it's spelled "Jonze."

Saw a trailer for Noah, had it pegged for Aronofsky within 20 seconds. Maybe even 15 with the bloody feet. I'm not sure how I feel about the need for this story, otherwise. But *air punch* for my own personal trivia win.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I absolutely loved Her. If anyone can find a pirated copy with Samantha Morton's voice in place of ScarJo I would pay cash for it. (Morton was cast as the AI first, and stood offscreen reading all of the lines on set. Jonze decided later he wanted to go a different way and had ScarJo re-record the whole thing in a sound booth.)

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Did I miss the discussion of Catching Fire? Didn't it come out after Thor 2?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I was bored throughout the Hobbit. Just felt completely detached.

smonster, I really understand your reaction. While I wasn't bored throughout, there was a certain point in the movie where I said to myself: "god DAMN this movie is fucking long."

brillig

And then it ends so quickly. I love being in a theatre that has people going "What?!"

In a good way.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

smonster, I really understand your reaction.

It was very pretty and jumped from set piece to set piece. I think some critic (or was it one of us?) said that Peter Jackson makes theme park ride movies?

I wish PJ still made movies like The Frighteners. I am of the mind that I will not watch anymore of his flicks like I refused to see the final Star Wars movie, even if it means bad blood between me and lil'bro.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

If anyone can find a pirated copy with Samantha Morton's voice in place of ScarJo I would pay cash for it.

I would love to see that version too, but I prefer Morton as an actress to Johansson. Definitely want to see Her regardless.

I want to see Don Jon too.
