I had a whole section about civic pride.

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Um...with a good story as well as a reason for it to happen to George Bailey's grandson. I doubt it'll happen, but it's possible.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

There was an SNL sketch about that once. The townspeople are all celebrating at George Bailey's house, but then they realize that Mr. Potter had gotten away with stealing the bank's money, so they all go to his home and beat him to death.

I loved that. Dana Carvey doing his spot-on Jimmy Stewart impression and Jon Lovitz as Potter.

Consuela, that's a good point about the Darcy and Ian kiss. I remember having a similar thought as it happened, liking that it was Darcy bending Ian over, at least. If you're going to use that trope, that's a good way to turn it on its head.

Alfonso and Jonas Cuaron filmed a seven-minute short to accompany Gravity: it's kind of awesome. But also sad.

brillig

Hubby wants to buy The Hobbit before the next one comes out, and he's looking at the various multi-disk sets. Has there been any information on which is a good set-with-extras and which is "throw it all in, the geeks will buy anything!" padding.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I just got back from seeing Catching Fire, and I want to go see it again. So yes, I liked it. I'm generally happy with how/what they decided to cut ( mostly from the long, crappy winter before and after the Victory Tour ) and I absolutely loved Johanna. Her cluster F-bomb during the Capitol interview was delightful.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I saw it last night and want to see it again. While I knew the book ends in a clifhanger, I had forgotten, so getting to that point in the movie I was unprepared .
