Is it wrong that I'm watching Temple of Doom and rooting for them to hurry up and lower Kate Capshaw into the lava faster?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

We took the kids to an early screening of Frozen yesterday, and today they've spent the entire morning reenacting the movie for us. HIGHLY recommended for all ages.

It should come with a warning that this IS one of those Disney movies where the parents randomly die in the first ten minutes, but my kids didn't seem too traumatized by that part.

The weakest part of the movie is the music (unfortunate, with Idina Menzel in the title role!) but the funny parts are very funny (I was worried about the snowman, but he turns out to be completely adorable; the trolls, fortunately, are only in two scenes) and the serious parts made me cry. Without spoiling too much, it does a very nice job of turning the standard Disney Princess narrative around on itself and kicking it in the pants. And the animation of the ice magic itself is GORGEOUS.

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Gravity is suddenly a much funnier movie if you assume Annie Porter changed her name, moved to the Midwest, and became a doctor.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Does anyone know if there's a good reason to see Thor 2 in 3D? I don't care for it in general, but the way the showtimes line up for me on Saturday, it's basically the same price at the same time for either one.

Lots of "likes" much appreciated!

THOR!

So, the reason to see it in 3D is the Winter Soldier preview in front of it. The reason not to see it is everything else, because I still think 3D is ugh.

There could have been more Thor. Also, I think there is a thing now like the (whatever it is?) HBO boobs-in-20-minutes rule, because the Hems took his shirt off almost immediately. (But then was dressed for the rest of the movie.)

ANYWAY. I liked it, and will be happy to see it again next weekend. Two spoilery things: the Chris Evans cameo was excellent, and I knew the Loki death thing was a fake-out, because I was on tumblr last night, and it was not on fire.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I am not a Thor person so I thought the movie was just okay. I found very few of the intended humorous parts to be actually humorous.

I am not a HUGE Loki fan but I really dug Loki in this movie. A lot if the best parts of the movie were Loki related.

The movie could have been 20-30 minutes shorter and been better. The scenes after the credits made me really irritated for some reason - especially the first one.

I was the only person in my theater (I think) who laughed out loud at the woman on the train rubbing up on Thor.
