Saw The World's End (which I kept calling "The End of the World!").
Started off slow (I think my brother was about to lynch me) and man, did it have a lot of pathos, and SP showing his age worked for the character.
And when it picked up, man did it ever! I think the action sequences/fight scenes were among the most impressive that I've ever seen! Nick Frost continues to steal my heart.
I had a big laugh at how the end was won (because my little brother is gifted with the
"don't bother arguing my illogic, it is futile, and I shall wear you down"
).
I was sad that
Martin Freeman bought it, mostly because I was distracted by the Martin Freeman, but especially sad about Peter, because that actor is freaking adorable with his chipmunk cheeks and sweetness.
I continue to wonder why
Bill Nighy
does these voice roles when he adopts such a bland voice to do them. I felt the same way in Rango.
Saw World War Z at the dollar movie. I was OK with giving it the benefit of the doubt because a) it was cheap, b) Brad Pitt's cute, and c) zombie movies are inherently illgocal. But then we got to the zombie swarming Jerusalem's huge wall--and no one noticed until they cleared the top! Was there not one medievalist or student of military history to tell them "Yes, you've built a kickass wall, now patrol the damned thing!"

People really seem to think a big fucking wall will just solve all your problems (see also: Pacific Rim).
Great, now I am going to be earwormed with Pink Floyd all night.
I just watched (some of) Day After Tomorrow for the first time. I had understood it was a stupid film. I didn't realise how deeply offended I'd feel too.
However Jake, Dennis, and Sela make a good family. I totally dig it.
