Sad Keanu indeed.
Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Friday Night we watching "Europa Report" which is a movie with a VERY interesting premise. A team decides to investigate one of Jupiter's moons because scientists believe there is water on the surface and that there may be life beneath the surface.
The movie is atmospheric and suspenseful (in my view), but I was a bit let down at the end. In retrospect, I suppose the ending is the only ending that movie could have had, but I wanted a little bit more.
I was pretty interested and engaged the whole time even if there was a certain element of "character acts kind of stupid" at a couple different points. I recommend it. Good not great.
I got this far
Oh, why did we put the command module in the exposed head area, and not fortified deep inside the torso?!
into the abridged script when I remembered there was a Jaeger that did that. Unless the abridged script is BAMPOWBOOOM BOOYAH! in its entirety I think I'm okay with what I got.
Greetings. My character's name is Stacker Pentecost, because the writers confused me with one of the robots.
Haaaaaaaa.
The abridged script isn't bad, although he makes far too big a deal about a romance that may not even exist.
Yeah, I only saw a couple of indications, one at the very end, that things might eventually go that way.
The writer did, however, completely win me over by naming the Australian jaeger Dingo Barbie. I'm now visualizing it wearing a giant metal boonie hat and scaring the kaiju away from Australia by re-enacting this scene with a 50 foot knife: [link]
Hah! Rugby Hobbit for the win! Thanks for the link, Matt.

Gotta say, I loved seeing the ladies bitchslapping Loki / threatening to stab him on the face.
Yeah, that's pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to this movie so hard.
Oh, god, this movie's going to suck, isn't it.
