We're watching Prometheus for the first time. So far I like (or am interested in) everybody but the two scientists, whom I want to smack. Is this a good thing?

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
It's a good thing, Amy.
Idris Elba was one of my favorite parts of that movie, to be honest.
Idris Elba is ALWAYS good. Not!Tom Hardy is especially pissing me off because ... he's not Tom Hardy, and I keep thinking I would like him better if he were.
Also love David, and am interested in Meredith Vickers, because ... Charlize Theron, I guess.

Who disagrees with this as a general truism of life? Line up right here--out of respect you can choose--chin, groin, or gut. But you need to pay.
Watched Monkey Shines today. It was...adorable? Really adorable. And not even remotely scary or creepy, and I don't understand the even most bogus premise behind the monkey neurology.
Okay, that was just dumb. And they're making a sequel?
Amy, the movie is really bad. I cannot believe they are making a sequel. I think the best part of the movie is the first 5-10 minutes. After, there is no point. Even the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo couldn't make that a good movie.
Not even Idris Elba.
I bet the Muppets could have.
Apparently the new thing is to put the extra scene between the "enhanced credits" just after the movie ends and the "regular credits" that just scroll, instead of at the very end. Also apparently, Fox has started using them to link the X-men movies the way Marvel does with the Avengers. (A little less Gandalf voice would have been good there.)
Oh, the movie? Eh, it was Hugh Jackman being Wolverine. If that's your thing, you'll like it. Fans of whump may also find things to enjoy. It does pass the Bechdel test -- in fact the strongest relationship that survives the movie is arguably the one between the female leads.
Why am I unable to turn off Red: Werewolf Hunter and go to bed? I own the damn thing on DVD!
Does it have Helen Mirren snarking and wielding silver knives? 'Cause I'd watch that no matter how late it was.
