Also, I really hate Sam Rockwell's face. He's up there with Edward Norton for actors whose movies I don't want to see. I don't know if this is an aesthetic bigotry, or that they've both been typecast into unsavory roles based on their looks. The only time I enjoyed Norton was when he was dressed as Barney in a black comedy. Seeing them play smarmy characters just takes the fun out of loathing them and really makes me want to avert my eyes.
In Iron Man 2 news: knowing comic/Avengers movie canon has definitely lessened the hot mess that is/was IM2.
I think the only movies I've seen Sam Rockwell in were Galaxy Quest, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and IM2. I found him amusing in all three.
I actually liked IM2, but it was a let-down compared to how good IM1 was.
I loathed Rockwell in IM2, but generally enjoy his work.
I looooooooove Sam Rockwell.
Sam Rockwell can definitely revel in the cheese, but I'd never thought of Ed Norton as typecast (and Rockwell is convincing to me when he makes serious, like Moon), and Ed looks incredibly normal (with a H'wood sheen) and not skeevy.
Sam Rockwell as Guy in Galaxy Quest won me over for life. I also love Confessions of a Dangerous Mind a whole hell of a lot.
He can be annoying as hell, but usually because he's cast to be that way (Xaphrod, his role in Seven Psychopaths, etc.).
"Oh that's just not right!!!"
Sam Rockwell is *fantastic* in Moon. Tiny movie, but a really smart, thoughtful Sci-Fi. Rockwell IS the entire movie and he carries it marvellously. Based on that and Source Code, I'm also keen to see what Duncan Jones (son of David Bowie) will do next.
Sam Rockwell's appearances in Galaxy Quest, HGTTG, and Moon have more or less made me a fan for life. (And unlike Ed Norton, I don't know anything about him being a giant assberet off set.)
The only time I enjoyed Norton was when he was dressed as Barney in a black comedy.
I *LOVE* Death To Smoochy. OMG, that movie was fantastic.

"Sorry if I smell like piss. You know how it is."
