"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

It's a tough call for me, because I love the theme music so much, but the use of sound in the recut opening was also very striking.

So I finally saw Skyfall this last weekend. That was ... odd. As if they took a traditional James Bond movie and then suddenly tacked on something darker at the end. Nice to see Albert Finney, but I disliked the way Severine's death was given no attention at all. Bond had just slept with her, after all, and yet he didn't even twitch when she was killed, and never mentioned her again.

And now Ralph Fiennes is M, huh? Eh, I'm un-thrilled. I guess it was probably time for Judi Dench to retire, but that seems kind of predictable.

I did like Ben Wishaw, though. Reminds me I need to go back and watch The Hour.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

The Hour has been canceled I think. Did not dig Wishaw in the movie.

I was not very happy at all they killed M. At all.

Yeah, I know about The Hour, but I did like the two episodes I saw. I did hear there's a big cliffhanger that won't be resolved.

And as for M, no, I'm not happy either. I wouldn't have minded her dying so much if they'd allowed her to do something about it, but bleeding to death slowly while the villain gloats isn't exactly heroic. I liked Moneypenny, and I didn't think she was ineffective in the field, at all.

I agree. BTW I am still unhappy. You have opened a fresh wound. I think I yelled "damn it" in the theater.

Whereas I was spoiled for it, so I wasn't surprised.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters should be renamed Hansel and Gretel Swear A LOT or possibly Hansel and Gretel: Diabetes DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT.

Other than the diabeeeetus issue, I have zero complaints. The movie does exactly what the title says. Plus, the swearing. Seriously, I am totally happy with that movie.

To be fair, while the "Sugar Sickness" was clearly meant to suggest diabetes I'm going to hazard a guess that being magically inflicted by a witch might make it operate a bit differently than the real world version.

That was Tim's take, too. He blamed it on eating magic/cursed candy.

I'm amused that I can handwave witches, both good and evil, and trolls, but the diabetes thing tripped me up.

Don't feel alone, my "Oh come ON!" moment while watching Battleship was about six guys being able to carry a shell for a 16" gun from one end of the ship to the other, not about the leapfrogging aquatic alien spaceship or the 200 mile-wide force field bubble.
