Sometimes when I'm sitting in class... You know, I'm not thinking about class, 'cause that would never happen. I think about kissing you. And it's like everything stops. It's like, it's like freeze frame. Willow kissage.

Hey. New board.

She should have gotten an Oscar for Rachel Getting Married, but I'd have accepted a Dark Knight Rises Oscar. Actually, I'm perfectly happy with the Les Miserables Oscar even though I haven't seen it yet.

I'm an unabashed Anne Hathaway fan, though, so I can possibly be safely ignored.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I don't have feelings for Anne Hathaway either way, but I agree with someone on a film podcast I listen to who said (roughly) that she created the emotional movie moment of the year and that's really the only rationalization you need.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I am a bit baffled by the Anne Hathaway bashing I've seen since most of it has been bashing *her* (for not being "genuine enough" or some other bullshit) not the performance. Just tacky.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yeah, I really don't get the Anne Hathaway hate. Some people don't like that she acts surprised even though she keeps winning?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I can take Anne Hathaway a whole lot more than Taylor Swift. If I hadn't seen Anne interviewed and giving shit to the interviewers on occasion, I might not like her as much as I do. I kind of wish that spunk were more apparent when she gives speeches after winning awards. She seems to take herself a bit seriously.

But oh well. All actors kind of do and I think they are nervous when they accept awards. She was better at Oscars than Golden Globes.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Some people don't like that she acts surprised even though she keeps winning?

Kind of a no-win situation as she'd be surely ripped apart if she acted like she expected to win.

I think Gwyneth gets the same guff.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

she created the emotional movie moment of the year and that's really the only rationalization you need.

This is absolutely true, and I think it explains both the award and most of the backlash.

I would have voted for Amy Adams, because what she did in The Master just blew me away, and she was working with far more difficult material. (Obviously Fantine requires an amazing amount of vocal work, but as an emotional arc that's going to tear the audience's heart to shreds, it's kind of a gimme.)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I think Gwyneth gets the same guff.

I haven't heard of Anne lecturing busy mothers among the masses about how they could improve their lives with personal trainers and visits to their stylists, so no guff coming her way from this quarter.

Gwyneth is guilty of that so I understand that objection. However, it seems to bleed into grievances against her performances - and I think she's a good actress with some range and talent.

Insert joke about how great she was in the final scene of Seven.

Kidding though. I agree with Hec for the most part, especially earlier on in her career (Hard Eight for example).
