I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

when ACT did Urinetown and Phantom

Wow, I'm not sure I can think of two more dissimilar musicals.

Sure you can! Assassins and South Pacific! Secret Garden and Debbie Does Dallas!

I grew up immersed in traditional musical theatre, so any disdain I expressed for the art form was always a sort of rebellion.

Because books.

I don't get why musical theater is considered lesser. I grew listening to all of my mom's albums -- stuff like Jesus Christ Superstar and Oliver! and Brigadoon and My Fair Lady and The King and I -- and I love it. I hate snobbery.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I can't decide between Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook to see today. Zero Dark Thirty is in the big fabulous theater, but I'm not sure I'm in the mood.

What to do??

OK, thanks! So that's decided.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

when ACT did Urinetown and Phantom

And this morning I realize I mis-spoke (typed?). It was Urinetown and Sweeney Todd. Though if Phantom ever played on the ACT stage, I'm sure my dad would be a fan.

I'm currently listening to the Broadway cast recording of Les Mis AIFG.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

LeN, you've got the Hulk article in there twice. Search on "is gordon willis" to find the second beginning.

It's an interesting piece, and it's somewhat amusing that the way in which he (?) is presenting it is getting in the way of some people from connecting with the content. Some might even call it irony.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Yeah, Les Miz was always in that "too popular to be cool" category. Along with Phantom and Cats and the other mega-hits on Broadway in the 80s.

Me and my friends that were into Les Miz in high school, were also really into Phantom of the Opera, and at least a couple of songs from Cats, but none of us were familiar with this "cool" you speak of.
