Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Shouting is a legit bar-band technique!

I actually prefer shout singing to vibrato, but I realize that is my prejudice. I can't even deal with Phantom because Sarah Brightman. She is number 4 on my most hated things list.

To bring it back to movies, my most hated thing is when people take a song like Grease's 'There Are Worse Things..." and turn it into a crazy showcase belt number.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

To be fair to Amanda Seyfried, Cosette is sort of a problematic character in that she is necessary, but doesn't as an adult have a very compelling story or acting objective, compared to almost every major or minor character. I don't really know what to do with it, either.

I agree, Cosette has always been more plot device than character. Seyfried's singing in that clip just doesn't help with a song I already didn't care much for. (Though, thinking about it, all of Cosette's songs are at the bottom of the list for me.) I don't have an opinion of her one way or another as an actress.

In Phantom? Or overall?

Re: The Hobbit. Rereading, I find myself wondering how they are getting multiple movies, let alone 3-hour ones.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Apparently the unexpected party goes on for 45 minutes.

I guess that's what happens when you don't plan well.

Sarah Brightman, in general. I particularly hated her as Carrie Pipperidge, in a weird album only version of Carousel. You wouldn't think this would come up much in life, but one of my friends, is a huge fan, and he is the kind of fan that has encyclopedic knowledge and is driven to collect every single thing about/with/converning that person.

My top three are: 1. George W. Bush, 2. Scooby-Doo and 3> Dave Navarro.

25 minutes is just Bilbo running out the back door and dashing into the Shire TJ's to get more biscuits. Then he sings a song about how long the lines were at checkout.

WTF did Scooby-Doo do to you?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I'm beginning to fear that Peter Jackson may have permanently succumbed to the curse of Oscar where what made a director's work interesting up until they win is overwhelmed by too much respectability. He really needed to do something small and speedy after LOTR and so far he hasn't.
