You know, I am really amused that one little movie has caused a forty-year-old fandom to be reborn. And has gotten me into a show I never cared about checking out before. Energize!

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Fox Searchlight is doing free screenings of (500) Days of Summer, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel.
During the Inside the White House show last night, there was a terrific extended commercial/trailer for Julie & Julia--I cannot wait for this movie!!
I didn't know too much about it other than it was about the woman who had that yearlong blog about cooking all the recipes from Julia Child's French cookbook and that it would also have some scenes with Julia Child herself (I was unaware of how they would work her in). Well, this trailer explained everything--it's mixing together both the contemporary story and the story of how Julia got into cooking and succeeded with her cookbook, et al. Wonderful!!
And seeing Meryl Streep as Julia Child is just so much fun--there's a bit from before she went to Cordon Bleu and is eating at a restaurant with her husband Paul, and he asks her what she's good at. Her response is "Eating!" which she says with utter joy and a twinkle in her eye.
I didn't know that they were making a movie of that!
I LOVED that blog.
Amy Adams is playing the blogger.
They should have cast Dan Aykroyd.
I know!!
Julia Child thought that SNL skit was absolutely hilarious.
Oh dear, I seem to have cut the DICKENS out of my finger.

Will you be cutting the Moliere and the Tolstoy out next?
