For a while, I thought it was just me. I couldn't understand why everyone loved it so much. Also, I hated the English Patient and The Accidental Tourist and both of those won Oscars, so I thought my movie-mojo was whack. But no, Happy Feet is just horrible.

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Dawn, I was JUST thinking about you today! Nothing specific, just a general "person form B.org who I don't get to read enough" way.
You're not whack, Dawn. The English Patient is, like, the biggest spinach movie ever that didn't involve Spielberg being pious about world war 2.
Thanks Scrappy! I miss the b.org and the LAistas tons - I'm so busy at work I'm not caught up but the boss has been in the UK for a week so SCORE!!!
amych, heee! It's good to know its not just me.

Dawn and I appear to share a brain...or at least taste.
I hated Happy Feet with the power of a thousand suns. (Even though the 'penguin encounter' scenes were exactly my experience as a penguin wrangler at Seaworld...uber-depressing.)
And I just never got the EP and AT love.
On the other hand, the bestie and I watched Stargate tonight. It's been a while and I have recently been slurping up the first 3 seasons of SG-1 via Hulu...I'd forgotten how Spader-litelike the TV Daniel is...and the various movie actors who appeared on the show.
I'd also forgotten the D'jimon Honsou (sp) was in the movie.
I like Happy Feet. The plot is a gigantic mess, the message is thoroughly disturbing, but I will forgive all that for penguins. And the Crocodile Hunter as a gigantic elephant seal.
If you like penguins, see Surf's Up.
I didn't enjoy English Patient and I'm a huge fan of Ralph Fiennes.
I did like The Accidental Tourist. My dad is the same way about phones.
I liked it when I saw it...not sure I would now.(My tastes have changed lots.)
Surf's Up is awesome! Plus, they get a little dig in at Happy Feet. Plus, GREEN DAY on the soundtrack.
