Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I'll be in my bunk with Touch of Evil.

Oh my god. I love JZ so much.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

135 Shots That Will Restore Your Faith in Cinema.

If you've lost faith, that is. Mostly, it's very, very pretty. One might even say sumptuous. Plus, the music is from Clint Mansell's awesome score for Moon.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Owen has been obsessed with Classic movies with a "C" for months now. He goes through TMC's schedule and records everything he can. he's rented Rear Window, borrowed a copy of Dr. Strangelove, watched half of Citizen Kane and now is talking about watching Topaz.

To tell the truth, if I wasn't as happy as a pig in slop, I'd be a little bit afraid.

He can tell you what year Steve McQueen starred in Bullet and The Blob. He can tell you who directed what and what year and what studio made the film. Is it wrong of me to say I love his little Aspie brain?

It's absolutely right.

How old is Owen now? He sounds a bit like me, though my Hitchcock phase was when I was about 12-13. It was harder in those days (no TMC, no DVDs), so I had to wait for a Hitchcock season on BBC 2.

My dad used to rent films for various film societies and I would spend hours just reading the catalogues.

I went on to study film and now teach it so, hey, cause for optimism.

Heck, I do too. Owen is a marvelous little creature.

I hope we can avoid completely destroying the world before Owen and his generation are old enough to take the wheel and turn this Titantic around.

Help us, Owen-Wan! You're our only hope!

Owen is 8. I love that he seems to be truly learning the craft of film making. He studies styles and goes from director to director. He understands the process and has been getting better and better at his own little Youtube movies.

He studied slapstick and pratfalls by watching The Three Stooges, Charlie Chaplin and even some Buster Keaton. He wrote a report in school on the history of animation in America.

He reads wikipedia and IMDB and really GETS it.
