Well, it's just good to know that when the chips are down and things look grim you'll feed off the girl who loves you to save your own ass!

Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Compassionately intolerant

How could he even begin to afford it? There are so many reasons that model is unsustainable, I don't even know where to start.

This was exactly my thought, too. But then, the entire fiscal stability/instability portion of the program seemed based on profits gleaned from handwavium mining all along .

We finally saw TDKR today. Slipped in right as the movie started, so no clue what previews there were. I also finally caught up in this thread, reading through the whitefont. I found myself nodding my head along with the majority of the comments.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

For those who have seen Batman Begins more recently than I have (or who have better memories) this probably won't be as cool, but someone edited together the scenes where Bruce Wayne and John Blake discover the Batcave and posted it on YouTube: [spoilery link]

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The more I think about those being the same places (it's totally obvious now--I accept that), the less I like the end. It's irritating me.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Oy. A tale that grew in the telling of it, indeed.

Argh. Less is More, PJ!

You'd think I would be happy, but I remember King Kong. (She says, darkly.)

I don't see any other way I'm going to get Silmarillion and appendices on my screen, so have at it, I say.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I wonder what the break points will be. For example, if the second movie runs from the Carrock to Barrels Out of Bond, I have a hard time imagining that as a stand-alone movie.
