And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

So DH and I have been watching ALL the Batman movies because of some things he's writing for work, and we finally got to Batman Begins today.

First, remember that kid Katie Holmes is protecting on the Narrows at the end? Yeah, me neither, but he's played by Baby Joffrey Baratheon. That kid was adorable before he turned evil.

Anyway, so the premise is that the fear toxin has been in the water supply for weeks, right? And when the water is vaporized, the toxin is inhaled? So in theory, shouldn't anyone who's, say, BOILED WATER in the past several weeks be already insane? Why do they even need the giant microwave laser? Just wait for the citizens of Gotham to make tea, and you're done.

I'm not getting the Winter Solder reference.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Ras al'Ghul's plot has always been the weak point of that movie, IMO. It's such a ridiculously, over-the-top, poorly-thought-out "comic book" plan that it's out of place in the relative seriousness of the rest of the movie.

I still like the movie a lot, but I have to ignore how little sense the whole microwave gun/fear toxin thing makes.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Am I the only one NOT enthused about Ant-Man? I think the concept is ridiculous, and Hank Pym is an ass.

And feel free to explain why I think Ant-Man is ridiculous, but I have no trouble with the concept of The Hulk. I dunno.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Connie, I didn't know the reference either. I found this: [link]

Winter Soldier in the comics is Bucky, who was not!dead but frozen (and missing an arm), with convenient amnesia, trained by the Russians to be an assassin. He also had an affair with Black Widow.

t edit Or, what Wikipedia says.

Am I the only one NOT enthused about Ant-Man?

No. You are not.

I think the concept is ridiculous, and Hank Pym is an ass.

Agreed. Super-duper agreed.

I didn't see the Captain America movie, was Bucky in that?

re: Wikipedia--Wolverine has a son??

Of course, it's been 10 years or more since I read any X-Men . . .

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Yay, Winter Soldier!

I HATED that vaporized water/microwave thing/fear toxin plot. So bad.

I am completely unenthused by Ant-Man.

Y'all, I have found myself so super-spoiled for TDKR. And it's only made me want to see it more. Like, five minutes from now. I need a time machine.

I didn't see the Captain America movie, was Bucky in that?

Yes, but he wasn't a kid like in the comics; he was a friend of Steve's who enlists in the Army while skinny Steve stays home. But, being Bucky, he does eventually become cannon fodder. (Not literally a cannon.)

So...holy SHITBALLS, if they do this right, it will be so, SO good.

A friend of mine just said on FB that she read the title as "Captain America: The WIENER Soldier."

...I would watch the hell out of that movie. IJS.
