Buffista Movies 7: Brides for 7 Samurai

A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just feel like maybe not -- it's all so unresolved. I mean, he's not going to Miami, so he's got to do something, and I don't think he lost all of his ambitions. I mean, maybe he did, but I don't think it was clear.

I guess I wish it had been more clear and more of his motivation. Beyond that, there could have been more eye candy.

Mostly I wish Adam had just gone back to the fucking sorority house the next day to get his bag! Those guys would have been gone, the girls would probably have been embarassed and just wanted him out of there.

Perfect, Jesse. That would have solved a lot.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

The furniture dream by itself wasn't getting it done. After all, by staying in the stripping world, he lost his bankroll. I guess the girl was the inspiration to seek it out.

No one else seemed to have the biggest problem I had which was 13K in six years?! First of all, at three nights a week + the door, he should be making something like $50K a year, TAX FREE, on stripping ALONE. He's only saving $2K?! Freaking ludicrous, especially considering I totted up at least $10K in chairs from DWR, probably twice as much in other items. PLUS! That furniture could be made piece-by-piece and sold on Etsy or eBay or at a freestanding store! That whole thing was, to me, hilariously underbaked. Not that I thought it made a bad movie, but COME ON.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Aw, Juliebird, I'm sorry. I have a feeling I kind of loved everything that you hated about it, especially the Bollywood. Probably no Buffista should ever listen to me about movies.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I changed the channel onto Tree of Life...shortly before the drowning, I guess. Having since done some reading up about the movie--would coming in late help explain why I was so detached from it?

Having seen all the way through them moving, would you recommend me recording a future showing and watching the whole thing, if I didn't feel particularly enraptured by the coming of age vignettes I've seen so far? I mean, does putting it into context make a significant difference?

There is no context.

But I understand there are dinosaurs--do they help or hinder?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Just saw Savages, which I pretty much hated. travolta and Hayak were about the only good things in it.
