Jilli, are the author and screenwriter the same person? Because one review I read complained that too much changed from the novel.
Yep, same guy. And the same author who wrote Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
'Same Time, Same Place'
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I'm probably going to go see it this week by myself. I haven't gone to the movies by myself in ages.
There's a $7 Tuesday theatre reasonably close to my neighbourhood. I wonder if tomorrow is $7, because although I'm not a mega-fan, I have the afternoon off, and relatively speaking, Spider-Man is worth that much.
I think Spider-Man might be what we see on the 4th of July to escape the heat. (I really want to go Tuesday night, but our neighborhood has a great rock-and-roll carnival the night before the 4th, and we generally never skip it.)
The Avengers in Fifteen Minutes:
CLINT: Yeah, the rest of us are kind of concerned. I mean, the cube is a portal, right? We have no idea if there's cake on the other side, or if it's truthful at all.
STEVE [brandishing shield]: Son, I'm the man who punched Hitler in the face. I'm here to drink Ovaltine and kick ass, and they don't make Ovaltine anymore.
TONY: Do you know what happens to an Iron Man when it's struck by lightning?
THOR: Well--thou wouldst think, the same thing that happens to everything else--
FURY: FUCK THEE WITH THY HAMMER SIDEWAYS!
THOR: lol, thou mad
STEVE: You saw those doggone aliens up close, Stark--what are they?
TONY [landing]: They are--ANGRY JOSS WHEDON FANS. They've been promised snarky metafictional dialogue, and they won't stop until they get it.
EVERYONE: >:O
THE CHITAURI: YOU JUST HAVE TO GET THROUGH THE FIRST SIX EPISODES!!
It's all so wonderful and hilarious.
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World was a sweet, quiet movie. There were only 2 other people in our theater because everyone else was seeing the kids movies.
But... [link]
Yes, the next line does point that out.
No LJ for me at work. I only have your quotes to go by.

Good to know! It's been on my I really like almost all those actors; please let the actual movie be as good as the cast list of might-sees for a while. It's still behind Moonrise Kingdom on the actual want-to-see list, but you've nudged me from vaguely wondering to actively interested.
