"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh shit, Andrew Sarris died.

The Village Voice was my formative out-of-school education and Sarris was The Man in film criticism (though I also took a lot from J. Hoberman, and Georgia Brown (aka, The Mom in the Squid and the Whale).

His throwdown with Pauline Kael was legendary.

Oh, hey. We saw Snow White and Thor last weekend, and I could not get over the strong Heath Ledger vibe I got from Chris Hemsworth. Mostly the hair, I guess, being darker than Thor hair, and his accent being closer to his real accent (I think).

Did anyone else get a Heath Ledger vibe from him? Tim disagreed, but he hasn't seen Ten Things I Hate About You. I think that's where it's coming from.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I have seen all three movies and hadn't made a Heath Ledger connection. Though now that you mention it, next time I see Chris in something I'm sure I'll end up comparing them.

Well, I didn't get the vibe at all in Thor or Avengers, but in Snow White and Thor it was RIGHT THERE.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I love that all the cool kids are crossing over Avengers into everything. SLJ is comedy gold: [link]

Huh. So not only does the new Dredd movie actually look kinda badass, apparently Karl Urban has confirmed that the helmet never comes off in the film, which alone makes it like eleventy billion times more faithful to the source material than the Stallone movie.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Sean, I wish there was some sort of teleportation device so you and Pete could go see the Dredd movie together. Because Pete has been saying the same thing.

Instead, I will have to go see it by myself, but I will talk to myself about it afterward (since that's almost the same thing), only I'll make one of the voices talk all British and say things like "pants" and "bullocks" and "scones". Adorably.
